A Macan GTS covering 8,000 motorway miles a year and a 981 Boxster S enjoying 1,000 miles of summer sunshine are two very different cars, but they both need servicing at the right time.
2 years or 20,000 miles whichever comes first
At JGC Porsche, we look at both time and mileage when determining when your Porsche is due its next service. For the vast majority of our customers, the time interval is reached before the mileage, making the servicing schedule straightforward to follow.
As a general guide, Porsche servicing is required every 2 years or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. Typically, the first two-year service will be a Minor Service, followed two years later by a Major Service, with this cycle then repeating. Additional maintenance items are also incorporated at their specified intervals, such as air filters, spark plugs and auxiliary drive belts, depending on the model and its mileage.

More than just a service
It's your Porsche, and we treat it that way.
Every service at JGC is carried out to a standard that goes beyond the manufacturer's basic requirements. We use Porsche parts, supplied directly from the German factories, and combine this with our specialist knowledge and experience of these cars.
But servicing at JGC isn't simply a case of handing over your keys and collecting the car later. We believe you should be involved as much as you want to be.
As we work through the car, we explain what we've found, what we recommend and, most importantly, why. Any work outside of the agreed service is discussed with you in detail before anything is carried out. We'll distinguish between what needs doing now, what can wait, and what simply needs monitoring.
Our aim isn't to sell you work for the sake of it. It's to make sure you understand the condition of your Porsche and can make informed decisions based on how you actually use it, your plans for the car and your budget.
Whether your Porsche is your daily driver, a fun weekend car or something in between, we'll tailor our approach accordingly.
A rough guide to servicing:
As a general guide, Porsche servicing is required every 2 years or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. Typically, the first two-year service will be a Minor Service, followed two years later by a Major Service.
| Item | Interval | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| Minor service | Every 2 years / 20,000 miles | The main part of a Minor Service is the engine oil and filter change, along with a full inspection of the car.
|
| Major service | Every 4 years / 40,000 miles | A Major Service is a much more in-depth inspection of your Porsche and normally takes around 4 hours to complete.
|
| Brake fluid | Every 2 years, regardless of mileage | Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere over time. As the moisture content increases, the performance and boiling point of the fluid can deteriorate. |
| Air conditioning | Every 4 years | Regular A/C servicing ensures the system has the correct refrigerant charge, maintaining its performance and helping identify any leaks or issues early. |
| Coolant | Checked at every service | Coolant level and antifreeze protection are checked at every service, with replacement carried out when required according to the Porsche maintenance schedule and the condition of the coolant. |
| PDK clutch fluid | Every 4 or 6 years, depending on model | PDK clutch fluid replacement is model specific, with Porsche specifying either a 4 or 6-year interval depending on your model. |
| Auxiliary drive belt | Checked at every service / replaced every 6 years | The auxiliary drive belt is checked at every service and replaced every 6 years, as the rubber can deteriorate with age and failure can leave you stranded. |
Above and beyond the factory schedule.
Because we work on these models every day, we know the common faults and the areas that can become a problem as they get older.
Below are a few examples of the many common areas we check during a service, looking for things that may not yet be causing a problem but could do in the future. Catching them early can save you a much bigger bill later, because that's usually where the money and the misery actually live.
-
01Borescope inspection
During a Major Service, when the spark plugs are being replaced, we can offer a borescope inspection to check the condition of the cylinder bores from inside the engine.
-
02Coolant pipes
Certain M97 engines use a front coolant pipe design that can corrode over time and eventually leak. We check these carefully for signs of corrosion and deterioration.
-
03Water drain holes
Blocked water drains can cause expensive water damage. Whether it's a Macan with a panoramic roof or a 718 Boxster, we know where the drains are and check that they are clear and flowing correctly.
-
04Brake condition and wear
We inspect and measure the brake components, giving you a much better indication of how much life is left in the discs and pads.
-
05Battery test
We use the latest Snap-on battery testing equipment to check the health and condition of your vehicle's battery, rather than simply checking its voltage.
-
06Corroded exhaust fixings and brake pipes
Corrosion eventually affects most metal components on a car. We check exhaust fixings and brake pipes for signs of corrosion and deterioration. Where appropriate, corroded exhaust fixings can be replaced with stainless steel alternatives to prevent the problem returning.
